It may seem that “splooshing” is a made up word, and it is, but that is really the name of this technique! This is the first time I have tried ink sploosing however this is far from new.
The main tools you need to attempt ink sploosing is an ink pad, spritzer and a piece of acetate (or firm yet flexible plastic). I had to be resourceful and found that the photopolymer stamp backings work great for this technique.
Awesome Otters is the perfect stamp set to try ink splooshing because it creates a fun water background. For this card I paired the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) reward paper called Simply Marbelous in Pool Party and Pool Party ink for my background. I used Basic White cardstock for my background and it turned out great!
I colored the otter in this card with watercolor pencils and then tried another with Stampin’ Blends
Here are the measurements for this card:
Card base: 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″
Designer Series Paper: 5″ x 3.75″
Basic White background: 4″ x 3″
Basic White label: 1.75″ x 1″
Once I tried ink splooshing with the Otters I wanted to see how it turned out with other stamp sets and variations. I loved how it turned out behind a white heat embossed background which I did using the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set.
This is a fun technique and I hope you’ll give it a try! Here is my full tutorial featured during Sunday Stampin’ on my Facebook page
