July is world watercolour month and so I have been playing around with different ways to watercolour using our inks and tools. Creating a sunset scene using ink and a water painter is a fun, easy way to experiment with watercolour.
Of course when creating a sunset I imagine my favourite beaches in Maui! The Palms dies are a great set to create various beach scenes. For this card I chose the large palm trees and die cut them in black to create a silhouette.
I watercoloured a piece of fluid 100 watercolour paper with my water painter and refill inks in Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flaming, and Mango Melody. I used a stamping black as my palette and made sure I had a cup of water handy for transitioning between colours. TIP: If you find that your watercolour paper bends when you use it make sure to brush some plain water over it first before you start colouring.
The circle was cut from one of the Layering Circle dies. To create some depth I added Stampin’ Dimensionals between the top layer and the watercolour paper.
The sentiments in the Paradise Palms stamp set are great to pair together for the front and inside of a card. I love the sentiment that reads “Hope you find a little paradise whenever you may be”. That’s my hope for you is that while you enjoy the summer you enjoy the little things and create your own paradise…wherever you are ♥.
