I am normally not a flowery person but when I saw the Designer Series Paper and the dies in the Hues of Happiness Suite I quickly added them to my shopping list…and then it was out of stock! As soon as they were back in stock I snapped them up…and then have not used them since! Does that ever happen to you? One way I find to get creating with a new bundle is to choose a card sketch or a colour challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n

To get me inspired I started following the Global Design Project on Instagram. This week their was a colour challenge featuring Soft Sea Foam, Bermuda Bay, and Blackberry Bliss. These are three colours I would not have put together on my own but I was so inspired by the projects I saw!<\/p>\n\n\n

I started off by using one of the Artistic Mix Decorative masks and a blending brush to create a background on basic white cardstock in Soft Sea Foam. Then I stamped a couple of leaves on top also in Soft Sea Foam. I added some “flecking” using Stampin’ Write markers in all three colours and used the fun notebook die on the left side and used paper snips to create a worn look on the other three sides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided to bring in some Crumb Cake and embossed the piece using the Timeword Type 3D embossing folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since July is watercolor month, I tried a watercolour wash with a water painter on the flowers with an “emboss resist” technique by stamping the flowers in Versamark and then using white heat embossing powder. The Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss inks were quite subdued in the watercolor wash but I think this lends well to the light tone of the Soft Sea Foam. I used some scraps of Shimmery White cardstock for the flowers…hence the frame \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n

One of my favourite features of the Happiness Abounds stamp set are the many versitile greetings in script and type fonts. I used the congratulations sentiment figuring this could make a great shower or wedding card. I also used white embossing powder for the sentiment. I pulled it all together with some linen thread and some Basic Rhinestones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crum Cake layer: 5 x 3.75″
